Can He Bring Peace to a War-Torn Ukraine?

A Gulfstream G650ER plane carrying Steve Witkoff, a special envoy of US President Donald Trump, landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo-2 government airport on Thursday morning, according to reports from the Interfax news agency, citing air traffic services. The plane had departed from Qatar earlier.

Witkoff, Trump’s special representative for the Middle East, had participated in negotiations between Israel and the Hamas on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on March 12 in Doha. On March 11, he was also part of a US delegation that met with Ukrainian representatives to discuss a 30-day ceasefire proposed by Washington, as a quid pro quo for the resumption of previously suspended arms deliveries to Kiev and the exchange of intelligence information.

In Moscow, Witkoff is reportedly set to hold talks on a possible peace agreement for Ukraine, according to Carolyn Levitt, the White House spokesperson. Bloomberg reports that a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin is planned. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov confirmed on Thursday that talks with US envoys would take place.
