Cabin Crew Talks Collapse

Negotiations between the Independent Flight Attendants Organisation (Ufo) and Lufthansa Group management have concluded without an agreement on a comprehensive pay and conditions deal for cabin crew. The organisation announced the breakdown in talks on Tuesday, citing a “destructive obstructive stance” from the management team.

Joachim Vázquez Bürger, head of Ufo, stated that the union had actively pursued dialogue with the group’s leadership since March 2024, aiming for a mutually beneficial resolution based on principles of social partnership. He expressed concern that the failure to reach an agreement now jeopardizes well-compensated positions and reinforces what he described as “unacceptable working conditions.

Following the collapse of these discussions, Ufo is now urging the relevant wage negotiation committees across affected airlines to initiate individual negotiations on behalf of their cabin crew employees. The organisation believes this decentralized approach is necessary to address the distinct needs and concerns within each airline’s operations.
