The 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Hannover 96 shared the spoils in a goalless draw on the 22nd matchday in the second division of German football.
Kaiserslautern missed the opportunity to take the top spot, but still climbed to second place, trailing Cologne by a single point. Hamburg, however, can now overtake the team with a win on the upcoming matchday.
The home team, under the guidance of Markus Anfang, struggled to create chances in the first half, while Hannover’s best opportunity came through Gindorf, whose shot hit the crossbar.
After the break, Hannover took control, but failed to capitalize on their chances. Kaiserslautern managed to hold on to the draw, initially with difficulty, before launching a late counter-attack. In the 91st minute, Wekesser had the best chance to seal the win, but Neumann cleared the ball off the line.
Other matches played on the same day saw Braunschweig defeat Darmstadt 1-0 and Elversberg beat Fürth 2-0.
