In the 22nd matchday of the German Bundesliga, Eintracht Frankfurt secured a 3-1 home win against Holstein Kiel. The hosts created pressure from the start and deservedly took the early lead. In the 18th minute, Brown’s pass found Kristensen, who in turn set up Larsson for a beautifully executed goal with his knee. Gigovic missed a golden opportunity to equalize in the 19th minute and instead, Tuta doubled the lead in the 37th minute after a deflected corner found the Brazilian midfielder. Nekic’s handball in the box in the 44th minute presented Ekitiké with a chance to make it 3-0 from the penalty spot, but Dähne in the Kiel goal saved the weak attempt, leaving the visitors with a glimmer of hope at halftime.
However, the SGE dominated the second half, securing the win in the 60th minute when Uzun calmly finished a pass from Zec. Despite being a clear underdog, Kiel refused to give up and pulled a goal back in the 73rd minute, with Porath initially missing a chance twice before finally scoring. The Rapp team, however, was unable to mount a comeback and the Toppmöller team secured a largely untroubled home win.
With this result, Frankfurt solidified its third place in the table, while Kiel slid down to the bottom of the standings.
