BREAKING: YouGov's Shock Poll: Linke Surges to 9% in German Election!

A recent poll by the institute Yougov has unexpectedly shown the Left Party at 9 percent in the upcoming German federal election on Sunday.

This is three points more than the same institute’s survey just five days prior and significantly more than all other major institutes, which see the Left Party at between four and seven percent.

The Union loses two points in Yougov’s “Sunday question” and lands at 27 percent, a clear decrease compared to the other institutes, which see the CDU and CSU at 30 to 32 percent. The Social Democratic Party (SPD) is at 17 percent, a one-point increase, the Greens remain at 12 percent, the Free Democratic Party (FDP) remains at 4 percent and the Bavarian Severe Weather Party (BSW) remains at 5 percent.

The Alternative for Germany (AfD) is estimated by Yougov at 20 percent, a one-point decrease and all other parties combined at 5 percent, a one-point decrease. The survey took place between February 14 and 17.
