The US stock markets retreated somewhat on Thursday. At the close of trading in New York, the Dow was calculated at 43,153 points, a minus of 0.2 percent compared to the previous trading day.
The Nasdaq 100 ended the day at 21,091 points, 0.7 percent lower, while the broader-based S&P 500 closed the day at 5,937 points, down 0.2 percent.
The European common currency was a bit stronger on Thursday evening: one euro cost 1.0299 US dollars, and one dollar was available for 0.9710 euros accordingly.
The gold price was able to profit, with 2,715 US dollars being paid per fine ounce in the evening (+0.6 percent), which corresponds to a price of 84.77 euros per gram.
The oil price, on the other hand, fell: a barrel of North Sea Brent cost around 22:00 German time 81.32 US dollars; that was 71 cents or 0.9 percent less than at the close of the previous trading day.
