According to media reports, the United States and Ukraine have reached an agreement on the terms of a deal regarding the extraction of natural resources and the rebuilding of the country. However, the CNN source citing informed Ukrainian circles, while Washington has not yet confirmed the deal.
United States President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, will travel to the US on Friday to personally sign the agreement with him, saying it is “okay with him” and that he understands it is a “very big deal”.
The details of the potential agreement, however, remained unclear. It was reported that the Americans had previously opposed the inclusion of security guarantees in the text, instead demanding the right to extract rare earth minerals worth $500 billion from Ukraine as a countermeasure for the aid already provided by the US, a proposal that was rejected by Zelensky.
Parallel to the natural resource and rebuilding agreement with Ukraine, the US has in fact begun to negotiate with Russia on a potential ceasefire, with the possible conditions remaining entirely unclear.
