A German politician, Carmen Wegge, has expressed her intention to continue advocating for a ban on the AfD party in the German Bundestag. According to a recent interview, Wegge stated, “The AfD is the greatest danger for our democracy” in reference to the AfD’s recent decision to induct a former member, Matthias Helferich, who was previously deemed too right-wing. Wegge believes that the AfD is deliberately promoting openly extremist figures and thus, it is crucial for all democratic factions to unite in demanding that the Constitutional Court reviews the party’s legitimacy. The AfD’s recent reconstitution saw the induction of controversial members, including Maximilian Krah, who was also reconfirmed as a part of the faction.
