Israel and Iran have continued their exchange of attacks, with a new wave of violence unfolding on the night of Monday. According to Israel’s national rescue service, at least three people were killed and 74 others injured in Iranian strikes on central Israel, with explosions rocking major Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv and the port city of Haifa.
The Iranian air raids came shortly after Israel launched attacks on Iranian missile sites. The Iranian government confirmed that the head of the intelligence service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Mohammad Kazemi, was killed. Since the start of the hostilities on Friday, at least 224 people have been killed, according to Iranian reports, in Israeli strikes.
Meanwhile, new details have emerged about the role of US President Donald Trump in the planning of the Israeli offensive. Several US media outlets reported that Trump had thwarted an Israeli plan to kill the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
