BREAKING: Record-Breaking Voter Turnout in German Federal Election?

Preliminary figures from several countries indicate a high voter turnout in the federal election.

According to Brandenburg’s state election official, Josef Nußbaum, by 2 pm, 55.4% of the approximately two million eligible voters had cast their ballots. This compares to 48.8% at the same time during the 2021 federal election. The figures only account for voters who cast their ballots in person at the polling stations, in relation to the number of eligible voters who did not request absentee ballots.

Saxony-Anhalt reported a turnout of 52.6% by 2 pm, a significant increase from the 36.7% at the same time in the previous election.

The federal election official plans to release the nationwide voter turnout by 3:30 pm.
