A German federal constitutional court has rejected an injunction against the planned financial package vote in the German Bundestag on Tuesday. “With today’s decisions, the Second Senate of the Federal Constitutional Court has rejected further injunctions, which essentially challenge the summoning and conduct of the extraordinary session of the 20th German Bundestag on March 18, 2025” the court announced on Monday evening.
Regardless of whether the respective applications were “unlawful or clearly unfounded” there were “no grounds” that would outweigh the “reasons for the issuance of a preliminary injunction” in the preceding balancing of consequences, it was stated.
This clears the way for the debt package from the Union and SPD, which is set to be approved by the Bundestag on Tuesday with the support of the Greens. Bavaria had previously signaled its intention to vote in favor of the credit package in the Bundesrat, thereby removing another uncertainty from the plan.
