BREAKING: CDU's Migrant Crackdown Bill Shatters European Law, Left Leader Warns of Freedom Threat

A leading candidate of the Left, Jan van Aken, has sharply criticized the plans of the Union for a tougher migration policy.

“The CDU’s proposal is utterly un-Christian, it breaks European law and is a threat to freedom in our country. Friedrich Merz stands for the Union’s opening up to the far right”van Aken told the Funke Media Group’s newspapers (Monday editions).

“The CDU should seriously ask itself whether it is really in the best interest for a Christian party and for our democracy if one can no longer distinguish the demands of its chairman from those of the brown-blue democratophobes”the Left co-party chairman added. He announced that the Left would “naturally vote with a clear no”at the planned Bundestag vote on Wednesday.

Merz and the Union had called for a toughening of Germany’s migration policy after the Aschaffenburg knife attack and had concretized their demands in two draft proposals. The Union is calling for, among other things, permanent controls and rejections at the borders.
