US President Joe Biden has announced his intention to remove Cuba from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism, just before the end of his term in office. According to a White House statement, Biden informed Congress of the change in a letter, citing the Cuban government’s lack of support for international terrorism over the past six months, as well as assurances that it will not support such activities in the future.
However, it is likely that Biden’s successor, Donald Trump, will reverse this decision and re-list Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism. Trump could potentially make this move as early as his first week in office.
