A senior Green Party official in Hamburg, Katharina Fegebank, has expressed a desire to see Annalena Baerbock take on the role of party faction leader following the withdrawal of Robert Habeck. In an interview with Politico, Fegebank stated, “I would wish to see her in that role. But that will certainly be decided by the faction.”
Fegebank praised Baerbock’s achievements as Foreign Minister, describing her as a key figure for the party. “With her clear stance for a strong Europe, she will be a figure and must be a figure in the next years for us” Fegebank said. “I see her definitely in a responsible role. In a time when everything is drifting apart, we need reason, measure and middle of the road and clarity.”
According to Fegebank, Baerbock’s strengths include a clear stance, backbone and expertise in crucial issues such as security, stability and democracy.
