A German politician, Stefan Seidler of the South Schleswig Voters’ Association, is not ruling out a new attempt to initiate a ban on the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. Last year, he co-initiated a cross-party motion to examine the possibility of a ban.
In an interview with the “Rheinische Post” (Friday edition), he stated, “The one will likely fall under the discontinuity. Then we will have to see if we can take up similar or other initiatives in the next Bundestag.” He can at least say, “We will continue to keep a watchful eye on what the domestic intelligence service finds in its reports on the AfD.”
“If it becomes even more apparent that the AfD’s structures are antidemocratic and partly show national-socialist tendencies, I will take the initiative again.” At that point, he will contact his colleagues to once more try to take action against the party.
