BRAZIL BOMBSHELL: Bolsonaro's Shock Plan to Abandon BRICS and WHO in a Bid for Global Supremacy?

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has expressed his intention to withdraw his country from the BRICS group and the World Health Organization (WHO) if he is re-elected in the future. In an interview with the Folha de São Paulo newspaper, Bolsonaro stated, “If I become president again, I will withdraw from the BRICS and the WHO.”

This announcement comes after the United States and Argentina have already announced their intentions to withdraw from the WHO. Bolsonaro also plans to sign a “stable military agreement” with the US to combat terrorism at the border between Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina, as well as allow the US to station a military base in the tri-border area.

However, Bolsonaro’s political future is uncertain, as he was disqualified from running in the 2026 and 2028 elections by Brazil’s Supreme Electoral Court due to his alleged misuse of power and illegal use of the media during the 2022 election campaign. Although he may be eligible to run again in 2030, polls currently show the incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as the favorite against potential Bolsonaro supporters.

Bolsonaro’s passive voting rights were revoked, according to the UOL portal, due to his alleged misuse of power and illegal use of the media during the 2022 election campaign. Bolsonaro served as president of Brazil from 2019 to 2023 and would be 75 years old in a potential re-election year.

The BRICS group, a multilateral organization, was founded in 2006 by Russia, China, India and Brazil, with South Africa joining in 2011 and Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates following in 2024.
