BERLIN, GERMANY – In a move that highlights the complexities of coalition politics, Brandenburg’s Minister-President Dietmar Woidke has outlined the conditions for his approval of the plans agreed upon by the Union and SPD in the coalition committee.
Speaking to Politico, Woidke emphasized the importance of a comprehensive package that would stimulate the economy and avoid overburdening the states. “We will take a very close look at what the federal government does in terms of finance” he said, adding that the key factor would be the overall package, not individual components.
The Brandenburg leader reaffirmed his commitment to the coalition agreement’s goal of putting Germany back on a growth track and expressed willingness to actively support the necessary changes. However, he also stressed the need for fairness in the distribution of costs and the prompt implementation of the planned relief measures for eastern regions.
