Brandenburg State Security Service Classifies AfD as "Right-Wing Extremist" - Minister Dismisses Head of Service.

The Brandenburg State Security Service has apparently classified the AfD Land Association Brandenburg as “right-wing extremist”. This is reported by the RBB on Wednesday, citing Land Interior Minister Katrin Lange (SPD). According to the report, the classification was already made on April 14th. However, Lange was reportedly informed about the step only on May 5th – three days after the classification of the federal party as a “right-wing extremist tendency” by the Federal Agency for the Protection of the Constitution. The Land Interior Minister has dismissed the head of the Security Service, Jörg Müller, with immediate effect. He is to be placed on temporary retirement. The reason given by the Land Interior Minister is that the necessary trust for a further joint collaboration is no longer given. The headship of the Security Service is to be reappointed in July. Until then, the department is to be led by the deputy head, Axel Heidrich.
