Border Controls Extended in Shock Move!

The German federal government has decided on an additional extension of controls at all German borders. The notification to the European Commission took place on Wednesday, according to the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The controls are expected to continue at least until September 15, 2025, as announced.

“The Federal Police will continue to control all German borders” said Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD). “Our actions are effective and remain necessary.” By controlling irregular migration, the government aims to “effectively” push it back. “We will continue to work closely with our neighboring countries – without dangerous national solo performances and in line with European law” Faeser emphasized.

The Federal Police will continue to conduct the internal border controls “targeted and in accordance with the current security requirements.” The travel and commuter traffic, as well as the economy and trade, should be as minimally affected as possible. However, point-specific and temporary traffic disruptions cannot be entirely ruled out, the ministry stated.
