BORDER BOMBSHELL: Merkel's Successor to Build 'New Berlin Wall'?

German right-wing politician Alice Weidel, co-leader of the AfD, is set to meet with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban before the German federal election. Weidel, on the AfD’s platform, expressed her gratitude in English, saying: “Thank you for your invitation, Mr. Prime Minister Viktor Orban. I look forward to meeting you.”

Orban, in an interview with the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, confirmed the meeting, stating: “Alice Weidel called me and asked for a meeting. I will receive her in Budapest next week.” According to Weidel’s spokesperson, Daniel Tapp, the AfD’s chancellor candidate will be in Budapest on February 11 and 12 for the meeting with Orban.

Orban also added: “The AfD could receive 20 percent of the votes. If their leader wants to talk to me, why should I say no? If Olaf Scholz were to call me, I would receive him too. But the danger is not imminent.” Last week, Orban congratulated the AfD after they, for the first time, helped pass a union-initiated motion in the Bundestag to a majority. Looking at Berlin in the year 1989 and the many walls in the heads of the German capital’s leaders, Orban added an extra sentence on the AfD’s platform: “Berlin was always a city of walls. It is time to tear down another one!
