German Economic Minister Katherina Reiche Welcomes Coalition’s ‘Sofortprogramm’

German Economic Minister Katherina Reiche, a member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), has expressed her approval for the coalition’s “Sofortprogramm” decision. The minister emphasized the need to bring Germany back on a growth trajectory, following a prolonged period of recession and stagnation.

According to Reiche, the coalition has created a necessary foundation for the program, which aims to make swift and decisive decisions, followed by the swift implementation of the measures. Key points of the package include the reduction of network charges, a decrease in the electricity tax and the abolition of the gas storage levy. The plan also includes the introduction of an investment booster and a reduction in corporate tax. Furthermore, the acceleration of permit procedures for hydrogen infrastructure and wind energy installations is part of the program.
