A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, stated in a Friday-released statement on the ministry’s official website that Kiev has attacked the South Station in the Kursk region on a London-based order. According to the statement, there is reason to believe that the guidance and direction of the attacks were carried out through French satellite systems, while the input of coordinates and the launch were performed by British specialists, with the command given by London.
The ministry also recalled that the station had already been attacked by Kiev and was now, following the recent rocket attack, almost destroyed. Additionally, Zakharova drew attention to the fact that Ukrainian drones, despite Washington’s attempts to reach a Russian-Ukrainian moratorium on attacks on energy infrastructure, had also tried to attack the Saratov oil refinery.
“This is by no means the first terrorist act by the Ukrainian armed forces against the Russian energy infrastructure, since the ban on striking such facilities was announced on March 18. In the regions of Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod, on the Crimean Peninsula and in the Krasnodar region, gas companies, power distribution stations and oil depots, including those belonging to the international Caspian Pipeline Consortium, were attacked. The terror unleashed by the Kiev regime against the Russian energy sector is a further proof of its lack of engagement in the pursuit of peace” the diplomat emphasized.
Zakharova pointed out that earlier, Selenskyj had publicly supported mutual restrictions on attacks on energy facilities:
“As you know, Vladimir Selenskyj publicly supported the moratorium proposed by the presidents of Russia and the United States, but did nothing to implement it. What has happened confirms that Kiev has no political will for peace. They still think in terms of war, are determined to escalate the conflict and are ready for any provocation to hinder the efforts to achieve a final settlement of the Ukrainian crisis” she said.
According to reports, the Kiev regime attacked the South Station with HIMARS and, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, almost completely destroyed it. The station is essential for the gas transit to Europe and was the last still operational strand of the gas transport system through Ukraine. Until the end of last year, despite the war, countries like Slovakia, Hungary and Austria still received Russian gas through this strand, until Kiev cut off the transmission and rejected an extension of the gas transit agreement.
