Hamas Postpones Release of Remaining Captives from Gaza Strip, Citing Israeli Breaches of Agreement
Hamas announced on Monday through its Telegram channel that the planned release of additional captives from the Gaza Strip has been put on hold, citing alleged Israeli violations of the agreement. The announcement came as family members of captives and the missing called for “swift help in restoring the implementation of the agreement” and urged the Israeli government to “cease actions that imperil the agreement’s implementation and ensure its continuation to enable the return of our 76 brothers and sisters.”
According to a report by the Jerusalem Post, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to advance the meeting of the Security Cabinet to early morning on Tuesday. Israeli Defense Minister Katz described Hamas’s announcement as a “complete violation” of the agreement and stated that he has instructed the military to maintain high alert for “any possible development in Gaza.” “We will not allow a return to the reality of October 7” he added.
