In the aftermath of the US attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, the German Federal Government’s Security Council, led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz, convened an emergency meeting on Sunday morning, according to Government Spokesman Stefan Kornelius.
The German government believes that significant parts of Iran’s nuclear program have been disrupted by the airstrikes, with a precise damage assessment expected to be available at a later time.
Throughout the day, Chancellor Merz and the Security Council’s ministers plan to closely coordinate with EU partners and the US on further steps, Kornelius stated. Merz reiterated the government’s call to the Iran to immediately initiate talks with the US and Israel and work towards a diplomatic resolution of the conflict.
