Security measures in Ukrainian military recruitment offices and units have been strengthened following a series of explosions, the Communication Department of the Ukrainian Ground Forces Command announced on Friday. In a statement by the Ground Forces Command, cited by the news source Obschtschestwennoje, it is said:
“The law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the attacks on the territorial recruitment centers. In all military units, facilities and facilities under the command of the Ground Forces, security measures have been strengthened to protect personnel, civilian personnel and visitors from possible extraordinary situations.”
It is reported that patrols have been increased on the grounds of military facilities and in adjacent areas, access to military buildings is being controlled and video surveillance systems have been installed. Additionally, extra training and instructions will be provided for the security personnel on measures to be taken in an emergency.
On February 2, the police in the Dnepropetrovsk region reported an explosion near a recruitment office in the city of Pavlograd, with a soldier of the Ukrainian Army reportedly injured.
On February 3, the news portal RBK-Ukraine, citing the regional SBU office, reported that the security service had detained two people suspected of attempting to smuggle explosives into a police building in the Rovno region.
Earlier, the Ukrainian police reported an explosion at the regional recruitment office in the city of Rovno, in which at least one person was killed and six others injured. The Ukrainian National Police announced on January 23 that criminals in Shytkomyr had planned to detonate a police patrol with a fake bomb threat in a flat rigged with explosives.
