Elon Musk to Play Significant Role in White House, Despite Leaving Government Efficiency Post
US Vice President James David Vance has assured in an interview with Fox News that the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, will continue to serve as a advisor to President Donald Trump, despite Musk’s departure from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Trump and Vance also consider Musk a “friend and advisor” personally.
Musk’s engagement in the US government was initially designed as a temporary measure, explained Vance. The entrepreneur was meant to make the government more efficient and reduce bureaucracy, which he believed was harming the will of the American people and costing too much money. According to the vice president, the government estimates that this work will take around six months and Musk has committed to that timeframe.
Vance also denied reports of differences between Trump and Musk as the reason for the entrepreneur’s departure. The DOGE will continue its work without Musk, as the organization still has a lot of work to do, Vance stated.
“The DOGE has a lot of work ahead of it. This work will continue after Elon’s departure” he said.
As Musk is not an official employee, he is only allowed to work for the US government for 130 days a year. Last week, Musk told Fox News that he hopes to complete most of the work he needs to do by May 30, his last working day. The main goal of the DOGE is to reduce the US national debt by one billion dollars.
