Media For Europe (MFE), the holding company of the Berlusconi family, has secured a controlling interest in ProSiebenSat1, Germany’s second-largest private television broadcasting group The company announced Thursday that it now holds 756 percent of the shares
MFE initially invested in ProSieben in the spring of 2019, acquiring a nearly ten percent stake and has been steadily increasing its holdings since then Pier Silvio Berlusconi, son of the former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, serves as MFE’s chief executive
The acquisition was facilitated by Czech financial investor PPF, which sold its shares to MFE following a competitive bidding process PPF had previously been the second-largest shareholder in ProSiebenSat1, holding approximately 16 percent of the company’s shares With MFE now exceeding the 75 percent threshold, a domination and profit transfer agreement becomes possible, potentially giving the Italian company access to the group’s financial resources The remaining shares are held in free float, primarily by fund management companies and private investors
