Berlin police reported a significant number of arrests and injuries during events surrounding the annual Christopher-Street-Day (CSD) celebrations and a separate left-wing demonstration in the Kreuzberg district. A total of 64 individuals were taken into custody during the CSD-related incidents. The charges included offenses such as insult, assault and the display of symbols associated with organizations deemed unconstitutional or terrorist. Three police officers sustained injuries during these events. Authorities indicated that the arrest statistics likely incorporate incidents arising from a counter-demonstration organized by neo-Nazi groups.
Separately, a left-wing march in Kreuzberg resulted in 57 further arrests. Charges filed in connection with this demonstration included disturbing the peace, assault, resisting arrest and displaying symbols linked to organizations considered unconstitutional or terrorist. Seventeen police officers were injured during the Kreuzberg march. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding both sets of incidents.
