Beatles, Bach and Aretha Franklin Unite!

Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz has chosen two pop hits and a classical piece for the Great Tattoo on Monday. According to information from the “Spiegel” the Stabsmusikkorps of the Bundeswehr will play “In My Life” by the Beatles as the first piece for Scholz’s ceremonial call. Afterwards, Scholz has requested an excerpt from Johann Sebastian Bach’s “2. Brandenburgischen Konzert.” The third and final piece will be “Respect” by Aretha Franklin. Traditionally, outgoing top politicians and military leaders can choose three music pieces for the Great Tattoo, which the Bundeswehr’s music corps then practices and plays during the ceremonial call on the lawn of the Ministry of Defense in Berlin-Mitte.
