German Football Club Bayern Munich has extended the contract of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer for an additional season. The new agreement is valid until June 30, 2026, the club announced on Monday.
“When we talk about goalkeeping in our time, we talk about Manuel Neuer and that’s worldwide” quoted FCB Sport Director Max Eberl. “He is an absolute role model – on and off the pitch.”
“I am still hungry and look forward to another year in this special club” said Neuer. “We were always in good conversations, that’s a nice feeling. It feels good, we have many common goals still.”
Neuer joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2011 from FC Schalke 04 and has worn the captain’s armband since 2017. He has celebrated two Trebles, comprising the Champions League, the league title and the DFB-Pokal (2013, 2020). The goalkeeper has won the league title 11 times, the DFB-Pokal six times and the Supercup seven times. Currently, the 38-year-old stands at 547 appearances for Bayern Munich. In the German national team jersey, he has guarded the goal 124 times and won the World Cup in 2014.
