Bayern Munich Signs Jonathan Tah as Free Transfer from Bayer Leverkusen
The German record-holding club, FC Bayern München, has announced the signing of national team defender Jonathan Tah, who will join the team as a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen. The 30-year-old central defender has signed a contract until June 30, 2029, as confirmed by the club on Thursday.
According to Bayern’s sport director, Max Eberl, Tah has been on the club’s radar for a long time and they highly value his quality as a player who takes responsibility on the field. Christoph Freund, the club’s sports director, added that Tah will not need a long adaptation period to become a regular in the team’s defense.
Tah has made 402 appearances for Leverkusen, helping the team win the double of the German Bundesliga and DFB Cup in 2024. He made his debut for the German national team in March 2016 and has since played 35 matches for the national side.
