FC Bayern Munich has announced the acquisition of Colombian international Luis Díaz from English Premier League champions, Liverpool FC. The club confirmed Díaz has signed a contract running until June 30, 2029 and will wear the number 14 jersey.
“With Luis Díaz, we have secured one of the best left wingers in the Premier League” stated FC Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. He highlighted Díaz’s proven track record of winning titles with every club he’s represented, describing him as a significant addition to the squad. “As a team, we were able to execute this transfer purposefully and we are looking forward to an international top player who will give our team important impulses and enrich the Bundesliga.
Sporting Director Mayer Eberl echoed this sentiment, emphasizing Díaz’s immediate impact on the team. “Transfers like this work when every cog fits together. Our fans can look forward to an exceptional player.
Díaz transferred to Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022 for a reported €45 million, quickly establishing himself as a key player. During his time with the Reds, he contributed to victories including the English Championship, the English Cup, the English Super Cup and two English League Cup triumphs. He made 148 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 41 goals and providing 23 assists.
The Colombian international has been a fixture in his nation’s squad since 2018, accumulating 64 caps and scoring 19 goals for his country.
