FC Bayern Munich secured a narrow 3-2 victory away to FC Augsburg in the second matchday of the Bundesliga season.
The visitors immediately asserted dominance, with Michael Olise nearly capitalizing on a misplayed pass by Augsburg’s goalkeeper, Rafał Gikiewicz, within the first three minutes, but Gikiewicz recovered in time to make the save. Augsburg demonstrated attacking intent, though Enzo Massengo’s early attempt from a tight angle went wide.
Serge Gnabry opened the scoring for Bayern in the 28th minute, heading in a well-placed cross from Harry Kane. Luis Diaz extended the lead just before halftime, converting a cross from Konrad Laimer to put Bayern firmly in control.
Olise further solidified Bayern’s advantage in the 48th minute, skillfully maneuvering past Matthias Schlottbeck and beating Gikiewicz with a low shot, assisted by Kane.
Augsburg refused to concede defeat, mounting a spirited comeback. Dion Beljo scored in the 53rd minute with a volley following a pass from Felix Uduokhai. Ermedin Demirović then narrowed the gap in the 76th minute, capitalizing on a deflected pass after an initial interception.
Bayern faced continued pressure as Augsburg sought an equalizer. Olise was denied by Gikiewicz in the 77th minute and Dayot Upamecano’s header was saved shortly after.
In the dying moments of the match, Demirović had a clear opportunity to level the score with a header from a cross, but his effort went just wide. Despite a strong fightback, Augsburg were unable to secure a point, while Bayern escaped with a hard-fought victory.
