Bayern Beat Stuttgart in Supercup Thriller

VfB Stuttgart suffered a 2-1 defeat at home against FC Bayern München in the Franz-Beckenbauer-Supercup.

Bayern München established early pressure, repeatedly testing the Stuttgart defense and creating several scoring opportunities. The breakthrough came in the 18th minute, with Harry Kane capitalizing on an unfortunately timed intervention from a Stuttgart player to powerfully strike the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.

The goal appeared to galvanize the Stuttgart side. Just five minutes later, Vagnoman drove forward but was denied by Manuel Neuer. Another chance followed quickly in the 24th minute, with Woltemade shooting directly at the Bayern goalkeeper from close range.

Bayern continued to threaten, Gnabry delivering a dangerous cross in the 38th minute that Olise headed just over the bar. The first half concluded with Bayern holding a narrow lead.

The second half saw Stuttgart attempt to take the initiative, but struggled to create significant clear-cut chances. A Karazor shot was blocked in the 58th minute and Bredlow, deputizing in goal for Stuttgart, denied Kane from a tight angle in the 62nd.

Leweling’s powerful drive in the 75th minute was well saved by Neuer, despite a deflection. Bayern extended their lead two minutes later, with Gnabry delivering a perfectly weighted cross for Luis Diaz to head home unchallenged.

The goal appeared to deflate Stuttgart’s attacking ambitions, with Bayern comfortably controlling the game. However, a late throw-in in the third minute of added time provided a glimmer of hope, with Leweling heading home to reduce the deficit. It proved insufficient, however, as Bayern secured the first title of the new season.
