The appointment of Evelyn Palla as the new Chairwoman of the Executive Board of Deutsche Bahn has garnered positive reactions from passenger advocacy groups and trade unions.
According to reporting in “Bild”, Detlef Neuß, Chairman of the passenger association Pro Bahn, indicated a limited pool of suitable candidates, particularly among internal options. He stated that Palla’s track record of successful restructuring within DB Regio positioned her favorably. Pro Bahn considers her a viable choice for leading the national railway.
The General German Trade Union (GDL) views Palla’s selection as “an encouraging signal”. GDL Chairman Mario Reiß commented that the choice of an experienced leader, with a proven background in both rail operations and regional transport, is welcome. He emphasized that this appointment should be followed by tangible actions that benefit employees and address key performance indicators such as punctuality and passenger satisfaction.
