Austria's 46-Day Battle Against Deadly Pigs Plague Pays Off!

Austria’s Federal Army Concludes 46-Day Assistance Mission to Contain Swine Fever in Burgenland and Lower Austria

The Austrian Federal Army has successfully concluded its 46-day assistance mission to prevent the spread of swine fever in the states of Burgenland and Lower Austria, according to the army’s own reports. The operation, which began on April 5 in Burgenland and April 14 in Lower Austria, aimed to prevent the disease from spreading to Austria’s livestock.

Thanks to the measures taken, the goal has been achieved, the Federal Army announced on Tuesday. So far, no cases of swine fever have been reported in Austria.

During the operation, a total of 239,851 liters of disinfectant were used to decontaminate vehicles. With the end of the mission, the extended quarantine zone in eastern Austria has also been lifted, although certain hygiene regulations will still apply from May 21 onwards.
