In a thrilling competition, Austria emerged victorious at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). The 24-year-old Johannes Pietsch, known professionally as “JJ” secured the top spot with his powerful vocals and the song “Wasted Love” on Saturday evening, beating entries from Israel and Estonia.
Germany placed 15th with the duo Abor & Tynna and their song “Baller.” German viewers, in turn, awarded the most points to Israel, followed by Greece, Albania, Poland and ultimately the winning country, Austria.
Surprisingly, the top favorites of this year’s contest failed to secure any significant placements. For instance, the Finnish-Swedish trio KAJ from Sweden, with their song “Bara bada bastu” finished in 4th place, while Italian singer Lucio Corsi with “Volevo essere un duro” and Dutch singer Claude with “C`est la Vie” finished in 5th and 12th place, respectively. Despite these disappointments, the ESC continued to captivate audiences with its diverse and talented contestants.
