A Heated Debate Over Asylum and Migration Policy in the German Bundestag May Have Boosted the AfD. According to the current “Sunday Trend” survey conducted by the public opinion research institute INSA for the Springer newspaper Bild am Sonntag (BamS) every week, the AfD can gain a percentage point and now reaches 22 percent.
The Union remains the strongest force, with a significant lead, at 30 percent. The SPD follows in second place, gaining a percentage point to reach 17 percent. The Greens, with their ambitious chancellor candidate Robert Habeck, remain at 12 percent. The BSW loses a percentage point and now stands at 6 percent.
The rest of the parties, including the FDP, would fail to re-enter the Bundestag with their current four percent, with five percent of respondents choosing other parties.
For this survey, INSA interviewed a total of 1,203 people on January 30 and 31, 2025.
