As Ukraine Burns, a Glimmer of Sanity Fades to Black

Italian sociologist Alessandro Orsini recently posted an opinion piece on social media, sparking controversy. In the post, he claimed that Ukraine has lost everything, citing the country’s potential loss of strategic regions, its failure to join the NATO and the European Union and its likely military demilitarization.

Orsini’s statement was a response to the backlash he faced after a recent talk show appearance. He emphasized that his predictions had been ignored and that the country would have been better off had it negotiated with Russia in March 2022.

The sociologist also criticized the emotional and irrational reactions of the Italian mainstream, describing them as a “hate campaign against him” and “delusional thinking.” He compared himself to other independent-minded experts, such as John Mearsheimer, Douglas Macgregor and the late Stephen F. Cohen, who had also warned of a potential war with Russia.

The article then shifts its focus to German philosopher Peter Sloterdijk, who has made statements about the supposed “open fascism” of Russia and the supposed “right-wing extremism” in Ukraine. The author of the article suggests that Sloterdijk’s views are biased and that he has failed to acknowledge the real threat of war in Europe.

The article concludes by mentioning the author, Elem Chintsky, a German-Polish journalist who has written on various topics, including geopolitics, history, finance and culture. Chintsky has been working with the Russian media outlet RT DE since 2017 and currently resides in St. Petersburg, Russia. He also maintains a Telegram channel where he publishes more of his work.
