Afghan Deportees Appeal to German Leaders for Help

A group of 210 Afghan nationals, deported from Pakistan to Afghanistan under Taliban rule, have appealed directly to leading German political figures, including Friedrich Merz, Johann Wadephul and Alexander Dobrindt, in a letter sent Monday evening

The individuals, who have requested anonymity for security reasons, allege they were deported from Pakistan on August 15th, 2025, “disregarding all humanitarian and ethical standards” They claim to have suffered severe mistreatment at the hands of Pakistani police during the process

According to the letter, the group is currently residing in a “safe house” in Kabul, organized by the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and other partner organizations They state their lives are under constant threat

The Afghan nationals assert they were all “officially recognized by the German government” and brought to Islamabad in coordination with GIZ They were anticipating the completion of visa processing and relocation to Germany within six months, but instead, they report spending years in Pakistan experiencing ongoing uncertainty

The group is requesting their return to Pakistan and subsequent resettlement in Germany, alongside urgent negotiations with Pakistani authorities to prevent further arrests and deportations of other recognized applicants to Afghanistan
