In a recent interview, Alice Weidel, the AfD’s chancellor candidate, defended her party’s tag speech and election program against criticism. When asked if she had appeared “hass-filled” during the speech, Weidel replied that she “can’t recognize that” in the ZDF’s “Heute-Journal”.

Weidel emphasized the need for genuine competition on the energy market, pointing to the Renewable Energy Act, which the AfD plans to repeal. She advocated for wind turbines to be able to “compete in the market” and not only be built with state subsidies.

The term “Remigration” was also criticized, with Weidel clarifying that it refers to the deportation of individuals who do not have a right to stay in the country, including “criminals who cannot behave and do not integrate positively into our society.” She stated that under an AfD government, such individuals would be “consequently deported, as we uphold the law.” Weidel also mentioned that individuals involved in terrorist attacks, such as those in Magdeburg, Mannheim, and Solingen, “should not be here in the first place.
