AfD Ties with Union in Shocking New Poll, Merz’s Grip on Power Slipping!

AfD Ties with Union in Shocking New Poll, Merz's Grip on Power Slipping!

A recent survey conducted by Forsa, a public opinion research institute, has presented its findings on the current political sentiment of the German public, commissioned by RTL and ntv. The survey results show that the Alternative for Germany (AfD) has narrowed the gap with the Union (CDU/CSU) to a single percentage point.

According to the survey, the results are as follows:

* Union: 25% (minus 1 point)
* AfD: 24% (plus 1 point)
* Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD): 15% (no change)
* Alliance 90/The Greens (Grüne): 12% (no change)
* The Left (Linke): 10% (no change)

The German Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Basic Security for All (BSW) each received four percent of the vote, the same as in the previous survey and would theoretically not be represented in the Bundestag.

In the federal election on February 23, the Union received 28.5% of the vote, the AfD 20.8%, the SPD 16.4%, the Grüne 11.6% and the BSW narrowly missed the 5% threshold, while the FDP received 4.3%.

Another survey by Emnid, presented five days prior, showed a different picture. The Union received 27% of the vote, the AfD 22%, the SPD 15%, the Grüne 13%, the Linke 10%, the BSW 4% and the FDP 3%.

Due to the low number of participants in such surveys, the results only reflect a possible trend in the sentiment of the public and should be viewed with caution.
