According to a new survey conducted by Insa for the Bild, both the Union and the AfD can report slight gains in voter support. The Schröder course on migration policy by CDU chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz appears not to be disturbing voters.
The survey shows the Union at 30 percent, a one-point increase, while the AfD climbs by 0.5 points to 22 percent. The SPD, led by former Chancellor Olaf Scholz, falls by 0.5 points to 15.5 percent and the coalition partner, the Greens, under the leadership of Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Economy Minister Robert Habeck, loses half a point, dropping to 12.5 percent. The FDP also loses ground, now at 4.5 percent.
For the governing parties, the 23rd of February is shaping up to be a disaster. However, two other parties are also facing concerns: the Left, despite a minimal gain of 0.5 points, is still at risk of falling below the 5 percent threshold, currently at 4.5 percent. The Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) loses a point and now stands at 6 percent, with the Thuringian wedding of the BSW with the CDU still fresh in voters’ minds.
