Recent polling data reveals shifts in voter sentiment and growing concerns about the nation’s economic outlook. Conducted by Forsa, the survey for RTL and ntv indicates a slight decline in support for the CDU/CSU alliance, placing them at 26 percent – a one-point decrease from the previous week.

The AfD maintains its standing at 24 percent. The SPD remains at 13 percent, while the Green Party holds steady at 12 percent. Die Linke registers 11 percent, with the BSW remaining at 4 percent. The FDP gains a point, now also at 4 percent, matching the BSW. Other parties remain collectively at 6 percent.

Regarding perceived political competence, the CDU/CSU has also seen a one-point drop, now at 23 percent. The AfD remains at 11 percent. The SPD stays at 6 percent, mirroring Die Linke’s level. The Green Party registers 5 percent, a one-point reduction. A significant 46 percent of respondents express a lack of confidence in any party’s ability to address the country’s challenges.

Economic sentiment has subtly worsened compared to the previous week. 22 percent anticipate an improvement in the economic situation (unchanged), while 53 percent predict a deterioration (an increase of 2 percentage points). 22 percent foresee stable conditions (a decrease of 2 percentage points).

The assessment of Jens Spahn’s suitability as parliamentary group leader for the CDU/CSU is overwhelmingly negative. Only 18 percent believe he is fit for the role, with a considerable 68 percent deeming him unsuitable. This criticism extends beyond opposition parties; within the CDU/CSU itself, 66 percent consider Spahn unqualified for the leadership position.
