CSU-Land’s Group Chief Alexander Dobrindt has sharply criticized the AfD prohibition motion, which is to be debated in the Bundestag next week.
“I consider the prohibition motion a severe mistake”Dobrindt told the “Rheinische Post”(Saturday edition). “A prohibition motion is like pouring water on the AfD’s narrative that the party is being removed from the political competition by means other than open confrontation at elections and in parliaments.”
Such a prohibition debate would give the AfD new opportunities to stage itself as a victim. “This staging has already contributed to the AfD’s additional mobilization in recent years. I am convinced: the AfD cannot be banned, it must be discredited”the CSU politician said.
