A Traffic Jam Holiday in Austria? No Problem, Says Chancellor Stocker!

Austria’s Chancellor Christian Stocker has downplayed concerns over massive summer traffic jams on the country’s roads, particularly on the Fernpass and Tauern-Autobahn, which are expected to affect German tourists. In an interview, Stocker, a member of the Austrian People’s Party, expressed a sense of calm, stating that while he cannot rule out the possibility of someone being stuck in a traffic jam, he believes that the measures taken by the government will help minimize the disruption.

As a child, Stocker himself has experienced traffic jams while traveling to Italy and he views them as an inevitable part of the holiday experience. Nevertheless, he emphasized that Austria has taken significant steps to mitigate the impact of traffic congestion on tourists.

The Chancellor extended a warm welcome to German visitors, who make up more than half of the country’s foreign summer guests and expressed the hope that they will have a pleasant stay in Austria. Austria, as a long-standing and reliable partner and friend of Germany, has taken the role of a host as seriously as that of a neighbor, Stocker said, highlighting the country’s commitment to providing a welcoming experience for its guests.
