Christian Lindner, the leader of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) in the German federal election, has clarified his statements about Elon Musk and Argentine President Javier Milei. Lindner had previously praised Musk, but also distanced himself from the entrepreneur’s political views, stating that his business acumen does not necessarily translate to political judgment.
Regarding Milei, Lindner expressed a more critical view, saying that while he appreciates the president’s libertarian ideas, he does not agree with his radical approach. Lindner suggested that instead of using a radical approach, Germany should adopt a more moderate and effective approach to its problems.
In a recent interview, Lindner restated his opinion that Germany should adopt a more business-like approach to its issues, saying that the country has lost its way from being an example to a cautionary tale. He also emphasized the need for a “new realism” in immigration policy, which he believes should prioritize practical solutions over financial support.
On the topic of refugees, Lindner advocated for a tougher stance, stating that those who have lost their right to stay in Germany should return to their home countries. He also proposed a new approach to asylum procedures, involving more secure countries of origin and processing of asylum claims in third countries, rather than in Germany.
