Leipzig’s Mayor Burkhard Jung has been elected as the President of the German Cities’ Association at the main meeting in Hannover. Delegates elected Jung to the highest position in the municipal umbrella organization, which he previously held from June 2019 to November 2021. Oberbürgermeister Uwe Conradt from Saarbrücken was elected as the Vice President and Bonn’s Oberbürgermeisterin Katja Dörner was re-elected as the Vice President. The German Cities’ Association sees itself as the voice of the cities and represents all independent and most municipal cities. It comprises around 3,200 cities and municipalities with approximately 53 million inhabitants.
