3+3+3+2″ Formula in the Works
According to Politico, citing coalition sources, the composition of the coalition committee between the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Christian Social Union (CSU) and Social Democratic Party (SPD) has been revealed. The formula, reportedly “3+3+3+2”, indicates the number of representatives from each party.
The SPD delegation will consist of Party Chairman Lars Klingbeil, Labor Minister Bärbel Bas and Faction Chief Matthias Miersch. The CDU will be represented by Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Faction Chief Jens Spahn and General Secretary Carsten Linnemann, who will also attend as the sole general secretary.
The CSU will send Party Chairman Markus Söder, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt and Landesgruppenchef Alexander Hoffmann to the talks.
The committee will be completed by Chancellor’s Office Chief Thorsten Frei and Björn Böhning, the SPD’s Financial State Secretary and Government Coordinator, who will act as “note-takers”.
