On Thursday, approximately 800 federal police officers and eight tax collectors from the Offenbach am Main tax office conducted searches at 40 locations in eight federal states on behalf of the General Public Prosecutor’s Office in Frankfurt am Main. The Federal Police Frankfurt Counter-Terrorism Unit announced the operation. The locations affected were in North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Schleswig-Holstein, Thuringia, Bremen and Lower Saxony.
According to the authorities, the background of the operation is an investigation into the suspicion of organized and commercial illegal employment of foreigners, the withholding of social security contributions and tax evasion in a particularly serious case. The operation began in the morning and the Federal Police Frankfurt Counter-Terrorism Unit will provide information on the results after the measures have been completed.
